Sanyo CCTV camera exposed: Risk to Home Security
Through a scan conducted by our cybersecurity team, a Panasonic Sanyo CCTV was found to be accessible by a default, hard-coded password, allowing administrative access to the device.
While no program-level vulnerabilities were found, this issue significantly compromises the physical security of the client’s premises, allowing for external parties to view and control the device. Security features set up in the camera such as motion detection could be disabled to compromise area monitoring.
Further research into the firmware updates for this device did not show any acknowledgement or fixing of this issue. If you have a Panasonic Sanyo CCTV camera that you suspect may be at risk, we recommend updating the firmware for the device and applying firewall rules to limit both external and internal access to this device.
